AUTHOR'S NOTE

The following story you are about to read is incredibly and ridiculously silly. So silly, in fact, that you may end up dying with laughter. The events depicted in the story are also fictitious and should not be attempted at home. Also, please a note that the story is intended for humor and not meant to be taken very seriously. Please take that into consideration while reading the story.

Thank you.

Chapter 1: Let’s Make Music Together

It was a peaceful early morning in Ponyville. At the Metrostallion House of Art, Vincent van Colt was sleeping peacefully in bed. He was smiling as he slept, as he was having a really nice dream…

***

The scenery was that of a hilly meadow. On the hillside, Vincent was lying down next to a unicorn mare named Sunset Shimmer. Ever since she’d returned to Equestria, Vincent often got anxious around her.

“Thanks for inviting me up here, Vincent,” said Sunset, “I really enjoy watching the sunrise.”

“Yeah, me too,” said Vincent, “it’s beautiful, but not as beautiful as you are.”

This caused Sunset to blush and giggle. “You sure know how to treat a mare,” she said. Then without warning, she pounced on Vincent and playfully tackled him to the ground. Vincent’s face when red as a beetroot; it looked as though Sunset wanted to kiss him.

“Close your eyes, Vinny,” Sunset said in a cheeky tone, “and I’ll give you a present.”

Vincent closed his eyes slowly; he couldn’t believe what was happening. Suddenly, it felt like someone was jumping on top of him.

***

When he opened his eyes, instead of being on a meadow hill with Sunset Shimmer, Vincent was on his bed with his sister Fictionary jumping on him.

“Wake up, Vincent!” she said as she jumped.

“Alright, alright, I’m up!” groaned Vincent.

Soon, the two had gone to the kitchen to have some breakfast.

“Were you having a dream?” asked Fictionary.

“No,” said Vincent, “what makes you think that?”

“Because you were tossing and turning while you were talking in your sleep,” replied the cheeky filly, “who’s the mare you like?”

“Honestly, Fictionary,” said her brother, “you know I can’t risk falling in love with anypony in case they get hurt.”

“Then why were you fantasizing about Sunset Shimmer you were talking about in your sleep?” asked Fictionary. This caused Vincent to go red in the face, but he didn’t answer; even Archibald the monkey chuckled.

“Be quiet, you,” said Vincent.

“If you want my opinion,” said Fictionary, “I think you should stop being so afraid and find a marefriend.”

“I know you want me to be happy and find somepony to be with, but I can’t. What if she rejects me?”

“How will you know if you don’t give it a try?” Fictionary was known to sometimes be rather cheeky, but she really cared about her big brother and wanted him to be happy.

“You may have a point,” conceded Vincent. After finishing his breakfast, he headed out of the door. “I’m going off to say hi to some of my friends.”

“I’m going to be with my friends as well,” said Fictionary, “have fun!”

“Yeah, you too, but stay safe!”

“I will.”

Soon, Vincent was at Sugarcube Corner, and he saw Pinkie Pie with an alicorn mare named Song Cue, Fluttershy’s cousin; prior to ascending as an alicorn, she had been a Pegasus like her cousins. Right now, Song Cue was helping Pinkie in foalsitting the Cake twins, Pound and Pumpkin. By that point, the twins were no longer in diapers and had begun speaking in English.

“Morning, girls,” called Vincent.

“Morning, Vincent,” said Song Cue. At the moment, she was playing peek-a-boo with the twins by covering her face with her wings.

“How is everypony today?”

“We’re okey-dokey, artichokie,” said Pinkie, “Mr. and Mrs. Cake are away so Song Cue and I are foalsitting the twins.”

Then Pound and Pumpkin Cake noticed Vincent and babbled in excitement.

“Hewwo, Unca Fincent!” said Pound Cake.

“We happy to see oo,” added Pumpkin Cake.

“Hi, kids,” said Vincent, rubbing on Pumpkin Cake's muzzle, “hey, I was wondering; have any of you seen Sunset Shimmer lately?”

“We saw her over at Twilight’s castle earlier,” said Song Cue, “said that she was borrowing a book from the library.”

“Well, it’s been nice talking,” said Vincent, “see you later.” But as he went for the door, he felt something on his tail. He looked back to see little Pumpkin Cake nomming on it.

“Aw, isn’t that cute?” he said, “You know, Fictionary used to do that when she was a baby like you, but she grew out of it.”

“Pwease don't weave yet,” whimpered Pumpkin Cake, giving him the puppy eyes.

“I guess the twins want you to stay more,” said Song Cue. Vincent looked down and saw Pound Cake clinging onto his foreleg.

“Pwetty pwease?” asked Pound Cake.

“Oh, alright,” he said, “I’ll stay a bit longer.”

“Yay!” said the twins, jumping excitedly.

Some time later, Vincent trotted off to Twilight’s castle. After Lord Tirek had escaped from Tartarus and stole most of the ponies’ magic, including Vincent’s, he had gotten into a battle with Twilight and destroyed Golden Oak Library while it happened. When the Mane Six, as well as Discord, brought Twilight’s key of friendship – Scorpan’s medallion that was given by Discord – to the chest at the Tree of Harmony, the chest drained Tirek of his power and restored everypony’s magic, and from the chest formed the Friendship Rainbow Kingdom.

“Hopefully Sunset Shimmer might have gone back to return the book she borrowed,” Vincent said to himself. He came up to the castle and knocked on the door. The door then opened, revealing Twilight Sparkle herself.

“Oh, hi, Vincent,” said Twilight, “can I help you with something?”

“Is Sunset here?” he asked.

“Sorry,” said Twilight, “she left a few minutes ago.”

“Oh.”

“Maybe you’ll find her at the Canterlot Symphony Concert,” said Twilight, “she told me that she had a ticket to go there.”

“Is there any way I can get a ticket?” asked Vincent.

“Yes, I happen to have a spare,” said Twilight, “Spike didn’t want to go, so did you?”

“But what about Flash?” asked Vincent, “Aren’t you going to invite him?”

Flash Sentry was Twilight’s coltfriend, and Vincent and Fictionary’s older brother. Since the Friendship Rainbow Kingdom had been formed, he was transferred from the Crystal Empire so he could be with Twilight and his younger siblings more often.

“I would but Flash is busy with his duties,” explained Twilight.

“In that case, I would like to go with.”

With that, the two made their way to the train station. However, unknown to either of them, a strange insect had been watching Vincent. It was about the size of a parasprite, but it was shaped like a heart. After waiting a while, the bug followed after the ponies.

Soon, Twilight and Vincent’s train stopped at Canterlot railway station.

“Well, here we are,” said Vincent, “when Fictionary and I first came to Canterlot, we were looked down upon as working-class citizens, and our hotel manager Basil Foalty was very ill-tempered. Once, he even beat up his cart with, of all things – and I’m not joking – the branch of a tree!”

“A tree branch?” asked Twilight, trying not to chuckle, “that’s just silly.”

“Well, the cart had broken a wheel,” continued Vincent, “when it wouldn’t budge, Foalty lost his temper and used the nearest thing he could find to take his anger out on his cart.”

“Whatever happened to him after you left?”

“No idea, although I bet he’s still in charge of Foalty Towers, still grumbling and complaining about anything, even his guests.”

“I’m surprised they hired him in the first place,” said Twilight.

At last, they arrived at the Concert Hall.

“Well, here we are,” said Vincent, “hope I’ll be able to see Sunset.”

Twilight hoped so as well; she knew that at the moment, Sunset and Flash were not on the best of terms right now, and he was afraid Sunset might try to hurt Vincent.

Suddenly, Vincent noticed a gray earth mare drop what appeared to be a note sheet.

“Oh my,” he said, “er, excuse me, miss?”

“Octavia Melody,” said the mare.

“Erm, yes; Miss Melody, you’ve dropped a note sheet, is it?”

Vincent picked up the sheet and handed it to Octavia.

“Thank you very much, Mister…?”

“Vincent van Colt.”

While the two were talking, the insect from before flew onto the back of Octavia’s neck and bit her.

“Augh!” she cried, clutching the back of her neck, “Something just bit me!”

“Are you alright?” asked Vincent, “Do you need some ointment?”

Octavia tilted her head up and her eyes looked into Vincent’s. Her eyes suddenly went pink and purple and she began having a fantasy…

***

Octavia found herself at a very refined looking gala. There were cellos on the wallpapers all around. As Octavia made her way through the crowds, she found Vincent dressed in a smart black suit with a black necktie.

“Evening, lovely,” said Vincent.

Octavia at first didn’t know what to say. Then Vincent held out his hoof.

“May I have this dance?”

“Yes,” Octavia finally said with a smile. She took his hoof and the two danced. The cellos on the wall seemed to come to life as their melody filled the halls.

***

Suddenly, everything was surrounded in a bright light as her fantasy came to an end, returning Octavia to reality.

“Uh, are you alright?’ asked Vincent.

“Oh, why yes,” said Octavia, trying not to look foolish, “I’m perfectly fine. Has anypony ever commented on how suave your accent is?”

Vincent was taken aback. “Uh, well, no…”

“Or how perfect your mane looks?” Octavia went on, batting her eyelids. Vincent gulped; why in Celestia’s name was she flirting with him?

“Perhaps we can get to know one another over dinner?” Octavia went on. Just then, one of her bandmates came up.

“Octavia, are you coming?” she called, “We’re on in a few minutes!”

“In a moment, Beauty Brass!”

As she turned around, on the back of Octavia’s neck, where the bug bite should have been, was a small heart. While she and Beauty Brass were talking, Vincent had raced off to the audience.

“That was weird,” he said to himself. Eventually, he soon found his seat where Twilight was waiting.

“What took you so long?” she asked.

“One of the musicians – Octavia, her name was – flirted with me for some odd reason,” said Vincent.

Twilight chuckled. “What do you mean, she flirted with you?”

“How do I put this – she said my accent was suave, complemented my mane while batting her eyelids, and then suggested that we get to know each other over dinner.”

“That’s odd,” said Twilight, “from what I understand, Octavia’s never really one to flirt with somepony like that.”

“Oh, you know her?” asked Vincent.

“I saw her once at the Grand Galloping Gala,” explained Twilight, “she complained about Pinkie Pie messing up her band’s performance, just because she wanted to liven up the party.”

Soon, the concert began. As the band members played their instruments, Vincent kept looking in the audience for Sunset Shimmer.

“How hard is it to find a red and yellow mane?” he muttered.

On stage, Octavia was scanning the crowd for Vincent as she played. When she did spot him, she smiled lovingly and winked at him. Some of the ponies in the crowd looked at Vincent in surprise.

“What’s everypony lookin’ at me for?” asked Vincent, confused.

“Dude, Octavia Melody just winked at you,” said a stallion called Rare Find.

“And I don’t even know why,” said Vincent, “I barely even know her, for pony’s sake!”

After the concert was over, everypony started heading off for home. Vincent peered through the crowds and spotted Sunset Shimmer just going out the door.

“Sunset!” Vincent called out, but she didn’t hear him.

“Did she even notice me?” he said sadly to himself.

“Oh, Vincent!” It was Octavia, and she was looking for him.

“Ah! I gotta get out of here before she spots me!” cried Vincent. So he blended into the crowd as best as he could. When he was close enough to the door, he bolted out fast as his hooves could let him. Octavia couldn’t find him anywhere.

“Where have you gone, my love?” she asked, “We could make beautiful music together.”

At that moment, Twilight came up to her? “Octavia Melody, is it?”

“Princess Twilight Sparkle!” gasped Octavia, bowing in respect.

“No need to bow to me just because I’m a princess,” said Twilight, “I just wanted to ask you something?”

“Oh, anything!”

“Why were you flirting with Vincent?”

“Why wouldn’t I want to flirt with somepony so wonderful?” Octavia swooned, “That suave accent that makes you melt like butter, that perfectly combed mane, those eyes that sparkle like emeralds in the light… Oh, he’s the perfect gentlecolt!”

Twilight just looked at Octavia in confusion; she had never seen any mare fawn over a stallion like that since Rarity’s crush on Trenderhoof.

“Well… it was nice talking to you,” Twilight said awkwardly, “I’d better go now.”

“Oh, alright then.”

And with that, Twilight set off to see if she could find out what was going on. However, nopony noticed that the heart-shaped bug from earlier was going off in the direction Vincent went.
Here's the first chapter to the latest story James and I are working on; loosely adapted from his Casanova Spike, but with different characters and situations. Also making her debut in my stories is Rachel's (:icontobyandmavisforever:) ponysona Song Cue and her little sister Heartsong (who we'll meet in the following chapter). The story is more comedy rather than romance, but I hope you get a good laugh out of these crazy situations Vincent gets up to!

Plus, you'll find a lot of references to The Beatles, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, etc.

This was written up back in December, but I feel like posting it this month close to Valentine's Day.
